The economic importance of Fishery as a viable source of Income, Food and Fiber cannot be overlooked, hence NAAD kick-started its NAAD-Fish-Nig program upon inauguration. it is been funded by the National Agency for Agricultural Development (NAAD).
NAAD organize seminars aimed at the improvement of access to knowledge in the aquaculture sector. The e-curriculum, consisting of animated videos, covering all relevant topics for Tilapia and Catfish farming. The aim is to reach over 10,000 aspiring fish farmers throughout the country and specific attention is on women and youth.
Besides seminars, the NAAD-Fish-Nig is organizing on-site vocational training at our Aquaculture Academy in Port Harcourt, River State, where we have our aquaculture specialists training over 3,600 fish farmers on yearly basis on the most important dimensions of the trade.
This Program is aimed to empower 72,000 young Fish Farmers and 36,000 Fish Processors from 36 States of the federation and the Fishery operation will be run in clusters. At the end of the training each graduate gets a grant of 200.000 (N) to start up a fish farm. We believe that this will bring the country closer to our goal of producing what we eat.
