A trainee participant in the 2016 training session of NAAD-Woman poultry training, Mr Sandra Ibinabo, expressed her joy in taking part in the training and the endless possibilities that the poultry initiative presents for a young unemployed youth like herself.

“I learnt a lot of valuable information on poultry farming in just two-days and I am very confident that I can now help contribute positively to my community’s food security situation and also be able to sustain myself and my family in the long-run,” she said.

Today’s success story for Ms Sandra Ibinabo: After the 2016 training and with 5,00000 Naira grant, she received from the NAAD, she went back to her Local Government Area in Edo State and started her poultry farm just with Five hunfred Birds, today she has almost 11,000 Birds. Today she is essentially contributing positively in her community’s food security situation and very much able to sustain herself and her family. Her story is a true testament that we can achieve anything we put our mind to.

Mariam survived BOKO HARAM captivity but could not make a survivable living to support her two surviving siblings. “After BOKO HARAM terrorist took control of Maiduguri, the capital of the north-eastern state of Borno, their farm, property and agricultural tools were taken. The terrorist intentionally demolished their water wells and farms.

We encountered Mariam at the IDP Camp. NAAD knew that if Mariam had the tools to rebuild her life, she would build a brighter future for herself and siblings, that’s why we made sure Mariam enrolled herself and over 221 other victims like her with NAAD’S greenhouse initiative with the understanding that our grant will go a long way to rehabilitating her including the provision of greenhouses and farming materials.

“This programme will play a big role in changing my life and that of my siblings, it will certainly improve our situation. The prospect of getting a financial grant of almost 5 million Naira has given me great hope that our family income will grow for the future. I also hope that NAAD continue projects like this in our area because many survivors and widows need them.” Said Mariam.
